Recognizing the critical need for lifelong care after the lifetime of parents, Adarsh has boldly initiated preliminary work in setting up a residential-cum-rehabilitation centre.
In partnership with Giridhar Eye Institute, this initiative addresses the needs of differently abled children with associated visual problems. An entire wing in the Main Centre of Adarsh will be dedicated to setting up a neurovisual clinic, manned by medical professionals from the Giridhar Eye Institute and Rehabilitation experts from Adarsh.
MANN is an NGO based in Mumbai. At Mann, they empower people with special needs, focusing on ability over disability. As a charitable trust, Mann combats exclusion and stigma faced by individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Supported by The Chittilappalli Foundation, Adarsh has undertaken this project since Oct 2024, aiming to help and mentor other schools to become model rehabilitation centers in Kerala. Impressed by our model, the Chittilappalli Foundation suggested we share our expertise with others in need.
This unique vocational program was established with the intention of providing adults with challenges an opportunity to learn a new skill and find gainful employment. This bakery and confectionary unit is now managed by an experienced professional Chef, Ms.Parvathy Ghosh under an agreement with Adarsh.
Early in our journey, we at Adarsh realized that there are a large number of children who are unable to utilize the various rehabilitation facilities available at different centers for various reasons like lack of awareness, financial constraints, logistical issues, severity of condition etc.
Assesses and evaluates new-borns with potential risks, offering early intervention for developmental delays. This unit screens around 500 new-borns annually. Since its inception in 2005, RBU has screened nearly 9,500 new-borns, identifying developmental delays at an early stage.
ACT launched a campaign to empower Anganwadi teachers to identify potential disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Down Syndrome in children.
A dedicated Montessori lab is being set up to provide additional training through this highly successful teaching process. The lab will be well equipped with materials and teaching aids specific to this methodology.
