Infrastructure- Its own building

Adarsh has set up its own campus at Kureekad, about 20 kms from Cochin, which was inaugurated on the 17th of December 2005, in the presence of the Hon. President of India, Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam. The building is of 2 floors, the ground and first floor with about 10 to 15 classrooms, each of which will be about 200sq feet. In these there are some larger rooms for Early Intervention, group therapy and other group activities. The classrooms will provide for academic sessions and will have appropriate equipment like black boards, drawing boards, desks and chairs to suit the requirements of each child. Access to the ground floor will be through ramps and to the others by lift.
Separate rooms for Early Intervention Group, Occupational, Speech Therapy, for Pre and Post Operative Physiotherapy, for academics, for Computer training etc. are available. Training of teachers of the school and parent counseling is given a more regular pattern. The Vocational Training which has started in a very small way will become a major activity as children develop skills. To provide the facilities for this purpose, the plot of land purchased measures 40 cents or 0.17 hectares. The land acquired for putting up the building is about 5Kms away from the nearest town, Tripunithura, 20 kms from Cochin city, in a serene and clean atmosphere.

For each floor, there are 2 toilets, specially designed to permit free entry and exit of wheel chairs. Handrails are also provided at appropriate height for easy mobility and to help the maximum number of children to use the toilet on their own.

The second floor of the building is proposed to be developed a Training school as there is acute shortage of Special Educators in the state. When more special schools come up, the shortage will be even more acute.
As children gain experience in using wheel chairs independently or with some help, it will be necessary to provide some free space for their training in use of wheelchairs. Hence a large area around the school is proposed to be developed as a training track for this purpose.
