Our upcoming project of constructing an additional floor to accommodate more children got a very good initial response. M/S GAMESA Wind Turbines Private Ltd, Chennai donated Rs.5 Lakhs towards that project. Representative from Gamesa, Shri.Arun Prasad, Deputy Manager-CSR and Shri.L Boopathy, Executive-CSR visited Adarsh and handed over the cheque to Shri.K.P.Padmakumar, Vice Chairman of Adarsh.
Magic Carpet on Kairali TV shot at Adarsh
Shri.Gopinath Muthukad’s Magical Journey through all districts of Kerala by a programme called- Magic Carpet-Muthukad’s World of Illusion is telecasted on Kairali TV. Its Ernakulam Edition part was shot at Adarsh with the children on 31/01/2012. It will be telecasted on 05/02/2012.
Bhavana 2012 at Toc H School on 28/01/2012
Rotary Club of Cochin International organized the 9th edition of Bhavana 2012 on 28/01/2012 at Toc H School Auditorium. Adarsh, being a centre for children with Physically challenged mainly, participated and won the Championship Trophy for the 3rd time. Lat we were the runners up. Children from Adarsh have performed in all the events and got prizes.
Smt.Pavizham Madhavan Nair, aged 92, visited Adarsh on 23/01/2012. She is one of the oldest guests to be visited Adarsh. She observed all the activities and talked some of the parents and teachers of Adarsh. She gave a donation of Rs.5000/- as an encouragement to our activities.
Lions Sports Meet on 22/01/2012 at Govt. High School, Panampilly Nagar, Ernakulam
Out of over 20 special schools participated in the event, Adarsh emerged as the Runners up Trophy for the second consecutive year in the Physically Challenged Section. Considering the physical problems, our children have showed a wonderful performance in each event. Congratulations to all the children who participated. Special credit goes to the parents, teachers who patiently trained each child for the event. We would also like to thank and appreciate the effort of Lions Club, Ernakulam who coordinated the programme excellently without causing much trouble for these differently abled children from different special schools
DHWANI- A Communication Device
An Alternative Augumentative Communication Device has been developed by SCMS College of Engineering College with the help of Adarsh Rehabilitation Centre. This is a modified version of similar device called “AWAZ” developed Inventions Lab, Chennai. This new device, called “DHWANI” is more user friendly and more importantly it is available in the local language. This device helps the non verbal children to speak
Adarsh Celebrated Christmas on 23/12/2011 with the children, their parents and staff. On the same day CDEIRC, the city centre of Adarsh also celebrated Christmas.
Parents-Teacher Association of Adarsh Rehabilitation Centre celebrated PTA day on 18/12/2011. On the day Former Chairman Shri.K.Neelakantan was honored by PTA. Various cultural programmes of parents as well as teachers made the day really colourful. It will be observed every year along with the school day i.e. on 17th December
People Council for Social Justice and Shilpa School, Palluruthy jointly organised “Ability Mela”, for exhibiting the products of vocational units of all the special schools in Ernakulam District. Over 15 special schools attended the programme and exhibited their products and programme got a good response from the general public. It was arranged at Women’s Association Hall, Cochin on 18/11/2011 to 19/11/2011.
