“Its not all work and no play at Adarsh”
A child with a disability does not lose all faculties and is capable of attending to a large variety of jobs and functions. In any case most of them have the feelings and emotions of a so-called normal child. In order to strengthen a feeling in them that they are like all other normal children, a lot of steps are being taken to instill a sense of belonging to the normal society. The children are given uniforms like those of normal schools; they have a school diary; they go to their regular classes after attending a prayer session; in short they follow the routine of a normal school child to the maximum extent. They are taken on picnics; visits are arranged by musicians, magicians and counselors. Periodically quiz programs are conducted involving children from other special schools and normal mainstream schools also. Special sporting events are organized for them. Festivals like Christmas,
Onam, New Year’s day, School Annual Day, etc are organized in the school with full participation of all the children. In addition mothers celebrate the birthday of their children in the school by distribution of sweets. Apart from these, visits by important dignitaries form a major item of our activity. Particularly when it is by a popular person like a film star or a musician or a sports personality or a magician with a few tricks, our children really go into raptures.
therefore arranges frequent visits by such personalities. In addition to the children being enthused by such visits, it helps the visiting dignitaries to realize that children with challenges in one area are as "normal" as other children in many other areas.
